Approved equipment for marine use

Safety equipment on board is checked during flag State inspections, port State control and class surveys. Depending on the product, our range includes versions that are:

MED: approved under the EU Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU and identified by the pictogram. It is required on board ships flying the flag of an EU Member State;
SOLAS: compliant with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea;
USCG: approved by the US Coast Guard, for the vessels concerned;
EN and ISO standards: for example EN 469:2020 for firesuits, EN 943 for chemical protective suits or ISO 12402-5 for workvests.

Firefighting

Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)

Complete SCBA sets with 300 bar cylinder, 6 L cylinders (200 or 300 bar), masks, demand valves, pressure reducers, gauges with warning whistle, electronic gauges, carrying cases, disinfection products and anti-spark cylinder covers. Brands 3M Scott (Sigma 2 range), Kawasaki Lifegem (KS-8C) and Fangzhan.

Fire extinguishers

Powder extinguishers from 2 to 50 kg, CO2 from 2 to 30 kg and foam from 6 to 150 L, including fluorine-free versions, mostly MED approved. Also lithium battery fire extinguishers (2, 6 and 9 L), plus refills, CO2 cartridges and spare parts, including for Yamato and Jockel.

Firefighting foam

PFOS-free AFFF 1%, 3% and 6% and fluoroprotein 3% and 6% foam; fluorine-free (PFAS-free) foam: Enviro SEA 1%, 3% and 6% with MED and ABS approval, MED-approved alcohol-resistant foam 3% and high-expansion foam. Also foam branch pipes (215 L/min) and DNV-approved portable foam applicators with 20 L tank.

Fire hoses and couplings

2" × 20 m fire hoses, including an MED-approved version, Storz couplings and parts in 2" and 2.5" (aluminium and brass), Storz caps, wrenches and gaskets, international shore connections, spray nozzles, sprinklers, a hose binding machine, and hose boxes or lockers (polyester, PE or metal).

Firesuits

Complete fireman's outfits: jackets and trousers to EN 469:2020 level 2, MED-approved gloves, boots, helmets and visors, and ATEX zone 0 helmet lamps.

Fire drill and test equipment

Smoke detectors (including Kidde), smoke generator, detector test gas, SOLO smoke and heat detector testers, flame detector test unit, MED-approved Triple C gas detector, fire safety plan tube and signal horn.

Sealing equipment

Extinguisher seals and sealing wire (400 m reel), sealing pliers and punching pliers for inspection tags.

Lifesaving

EEBD – emergency escape breathing devices

EEBDs for escape from smoke-filled spaces: 3M Scott ELSA and Ocenco M-20.2, an Ocenco training unit for drills, and wall-mounted storage boxes.

Helideck and rescue equipment

Neil Robertson stretchers and basket stretchers with lifting bridle, helicopter hoisting belt, rescue grab hook, Dacon rescue frame and rescue dummy, marshalling bats, helideck windsock and Restech pneumatic line throwers, including SOLAS and MED versions.
